I’m Mary G. Sanchez
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California (LMFT #115485) and the founder of Monarca Therapy. I specialize in perinatal and maternal mental health, supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, loss, motherhood, and the many experiences that can come along the way.
Over the years, I have worked in a variety of settings, including private practice, school-based mental health, nonprofit organizations, and family visitation centers. I have also facilitated groups focused on trauma, attachment, and parenting.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in a hospital as a newborn hearing screener in the mother-baby unit. I loved how behind every hospital room was a different story and how each family made that space their own. Today, as a therapist, I have the privilege of supporting mothers through their own stories and being alongside them as they navigate healing, change, and motherhood.
Education & Specialized Training
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) and my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, from California Lutheran University.
I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) and continue to pursue specialized training in perinatal mental health to strengthen the care I provide to women and mothers.
A Little More About Me
As a therapist, I have also experienced being on the other side of the therapy room, and I understand that taking the first step can feel uncomfortable or even scary. Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with matters, and I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as you are.
Outside of being a therapist, I’m also a mom. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, practicing self-care, traveling, taking pictures, and trying different foods.
